Sherry R. Doaks
January 3, 1962 ~ April 21, 2019 (age 57)
The Lord our God gave the breath of life to Sherry Renae Cade Doaks on January 3, 1962 in Thomaston, Alabama. On Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019, Sherry entered eternal life. Born the first child to Maude Cade Hill, Sherry is preceded in death by her father Reverend Baxter Hill Jr., Mother-in-law Marie A. Doaks Moore, stepsister Charnita Shaw, beloved sister Kimberly W. Hylton and grandmother Julia Poellintz.
At a very early age, Sherry came to know Jesus Christ our Lord while she attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and later held her confirmation at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Garfield, Ohio, by the Most Reverend Bishop James A. Griffin, J.D., J.C.L.
Sherry attended Beaumont School for Girls in Cleveland Heights, Ohio where she received many educational accolades. In 1980, Sherry graduated from Cleveland Heights High School a place she held close to her because that is where she met her high school sweetheart Darnell, who later became her husband. Sherry and Darnell shared 40 magnificent years together. Upon graduating high school, Sherry went on to attend Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and later completed her collegiate studies at Ohio Christian University in Circleville, Ohio.
For nearly a decade, Sherry Renae Cade Doaks was an employee of Cuyahoga County Jobs and Family Services before she, her husband Darnell and son Darnell Jr., relocated to Columbus, Ohio to be close to her parents Baxter and Maude Hill.
During her stay in Columbus, Sherry became a long-time employee of Amethyst and Lutheran Social Services where she was able to combine her compassion and empathy for others while pursuing he life’s purpose as a Social Worker and Case Manager. In 2016, Sherry retired from Lutheran Social Services when she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer which later turned into Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC) which is the most advanced rarest stage of breast cancer that spreads beyond the breasts to other organs in the body. During this time Sherry began to be diligent in research and knowledge of MBC and began to advocate a new cause, bringing awareness to the difference between Breast Cancer and MBC and the rarity of MBC (only 5-10% of women diagnosed with Breast Cancer go on to develop MBC).
In the early 2000s, Sherry would begin to adhere to the prophetic calling on her life and began her ministry under the leadership of Pastor Alyce Hardin Cooke. She later united with First Church of God under Bishop Timothy J. Clarke until she started her own church, Jeshua Ministries in Columbus, Ohio.
Our beloved, Sherry was always like the North Star; as it stays constant and never wavering. Fondly an affectionately known as “Shobe†to her family and “Pastor Sherry†to her closest friends, she was the light for many people burning bright in the lives of all she encountered.
Sherry’s genuine love for her family was the foundation that governed her daily mission to ignite, inspire and impact the lives of those who’d she encourage, counsel and pray for. Sherry was passionate about life and her love of God. Her spirit was infectious. Her heart was enormous, and her love was unconditional. Sherry’s faith was unmeasured.
Sherry was not only a Prayer Warrior that would stand in the gap, she was a Life Warrior that would champion the love, compassion and fulfillment of purpose for any and every one as well as herself. Sherry was a fearless, relentless fighter who fought the good fight until she took her last breath. Yet, during every cycle of life her faith never wavered. Her voice was never silenced from praising the Lord and her light never dimmed.
Sherry leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Maude Hill. Her devoted husband Darnell E. Doaks Sr.; her greatest blessing, son Darnell (Lena) Doaks, Jr.; granddaughter De’ Shanti; their loving dog, Humble; sisters Angela (Willie) Vann, Juanita T. Wright, Duanita (Rick) Booker, Vuanita (Regina) Hill, Katrina Wade, Maude Davis, Ikeya Mariea Cade; brothers Keith (Constance) cade, Marlin (Kimberly) Black. As well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 11am until time of service at 12pm at Violet Baptist Church, 8345 Blacklick Eastern Rd., Pickerington, OH 43147.
